We: REVIEW AND COMPARISONS OF D/R MODELS OF EQUILIBRIUM ADSORPTION OF BINARY MIXTURES OF ORGANIC VAPORS ON ACTIVATED CARBONS

چکیده

Published models and options for predicting equilibrium adsorption capacities of multicomponent mixtures using single component Dubinidlladushkevich isotherm equations and parameters were reviewed. They were then tested for abilities to predict total and component capacities reported for 93 binary adsorbed mixtures. The best model for calculating molar distributions was the Ideal Adsorbed Solution Theory (IAST), which balances spreading pressures. Combined with the IAST, total and component capacities were best calculated using either the Lewis or original Bering equation with the Ideal Adsorbed Solution (Raoult’s Law) assumption. REcElvE@ ~

Phase Equilibrium Calculations for Confined Fluids, including Surface Tension Prediction Models

Phase equilibrium calculations for fluids confined inside capillary tubes or porous media are formulated using the isofugacity equations. In this situation, the phase pressures are not equal and it is assumed that they are related by the Laplace equation. With this formulation, existing procedures for phase equilibrium calculations can be readily modified to include capillary effects. In this p...

Addressing Health Equity Through Action on the Social Determinants of Health: A Global Review of Policy Outcome Evaluation Methods

Background Epidemiological evidence on the social determinants of health inequity is well-advanced, but considerably less attention has been given to evaluating the impact of public policies addressing those social determinants. Methodological challenges to produce evidence on policy outcomes present a significant barrier to mobilising policy actions for health equities. This review aims to exa...

A comprehensive experimental comparison of the aggregation techniques for face recognition

In face recognition, one of the most important problems to tackle is a large amount of data and the redundancy of information contained in facial images. There are numerous approaches attempting to reduce this redundancy. One of them is information aggregation based on the results of classifiers built on selected facial areas being the most salient regions from the point of view of classificati...

Molecular adsorption bond lengths at metal oxide surfaces: failure of current theoretical methods.

New experimental structure determinations for molecular adsorbates on NiO(100) reveal much shorter Ni-C and Ni-N bond lengths for adsorbed CO and NH3 as well as NO (2.07, 1.88, 2.07 A) than previously computed theoretical values, with discrepancies up to 0.79 A, highlighting a major weakness of current theoretical descriptions of oxide-molecule bonding. Comparisons with experimentally determine...

P144: Review of Deep Brain Stimulation Target Areas in Patients with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder manifested by thoughts and impulses that produce anxiety and result in patients performing repetitive rituals. Treatment generally consists of cognitive behavioral intervention and serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Up to 40% of patients will have functional impairment that significantly affects their quality of life. In the late 1990’s,...
